TOPIC: Dealing with MINI Canada - Ongoing Repairs

Dealing with MINI Canada - Ongoing Repairs 10 months, 1 week ago #5451

Hi everyone!

Haven't been in contact for quite awhile as I live in Kelowna and unable to attend any events since the 50th Celebration! That was a blast!

My question today is regarding ongoing problems I've had with my 2009 Mini Cooper S for the past 3 yrs. It's constantly in the garage for oil leaks due to seal problems, transmission problems that never get repaired. I have a printout of the history of repairs I've had done…it's 8 pages, fine print!! And it has to go back in the garage this Thursday. They had it for a week the end of June, when I got it back I had to book another appointment almost immediately and the earliest they could get it back in was July 19th! Been driving around with a very sick Mini…and probably not safe.

The transmission still isn't repaired (stalling, sputtering, unable to move over to manual with steptronic…..the list goes on.) As much as I loved my Mini, the problems are definitely outweighing the "fun factor".

I've contact Mini Canada in hopes they would offer some suggestion on how I can rectify this, unfortunately, their response was that they would continue to repair it, nothing more they can do.

Wondering if any of you have had ongoing problems, and if Mini Canada offered any assistance.

First lemon I've ever purchased….and unfortunately, it happens to be my favorite car.

I wonder how much of this depends on the dealership that you go to. I've had some warranty work done by MINI Crowfoot and they've been good about it. Maybe come here at get your work done!

Hard to say, I don't have a lot of confidence in the mechanics at BMW here after all the time it spends in the shop. Can't bring it to Calgary for repair, long drive, and I wouldn't take it that far on the highway being a single female driver. It's not reliable enough. Sucks to be paying so much $ for a car I don't feel I can take on a drive outside the local area.

If its slightly easier, I just moved to Calgary from Vancouver and I used Jay, Stephen and Angelo at Mini Richmond - unbelieveble bunch and were really helpful when our '06 R50 Mini Next warranty was almost expired and we needed a tranny (the cars third overall in just 91k).

They really looked after my 2010 JCW too whenever it needed anything.......

Give either of them a shout on 604 233 0700

Thanks for the suggestion, however, Vancouver is still about 4 hrs away. If the problems continued to be ongoing, it wouldn't be possible to take it back and forth often. It went back in for repairs yesterday, they expect I will get it back sometime next week. Apparently they have to order a gear shifter, and install a fuel pump I think. So many parts have been replaced I can't even keep track anymore. Oh well. No more Mini for me once this one is taken off my hands.

Well, my Mini is still at the dealership for repairs. They called last Wednesday to come pick it up after replacing the gear shifter and the high pressure fuel pump. When I got there, it was near 30 degrees outside, first thing I did was "try" to open the sunroof. Now the sunroof wasn't working, didn't even get it off the lot!! It's been in the shop since the 19th and no date on when it's going to be fixed.

Now they need to get approval (because it's a major job) and order parts to remove the sunroof and replace the track! So who know when I will get my car back. It never ends!
